Bernekerjeve sledi: 150-letnica rojstva kiparja Franca Bernekerja, KGLU, Slovenj Gradec
The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška (KGLU), in collaboration with the National Gallery, proudly presents Franc Berneker: A Petrified Dream, an exhibition commemorating the 150th anniversary of Franc Berneker, the trailblazer of modern Slovenian sculpture. The showcase highlights the remarkable works of renowned artist Tanja Prušnik, whose innovative and contemporary interpretations of Berneker’s legacy leave an extraordinary artistic impression.
Tanja Prušnik has crafted a captivating series of works that pay tribute to Berneker’s life works, reimagining them as new creations inspired by the art of origami. Using thoughtfully chosen images of Berneker’s lost pieces, printed on paper, she transforms these fragments through intricate folds, infusing them with fresh meaning and contemporary relevance. Displayed in elegant glass cases or beneath delicate glass domes, the works evoke a sense of fragility and beauty, inviting viewers to reflect on the interplay between past and present.

In the Berneker Traces series, Tanja Prušnik transcends traditional boundaries of painting, transforming her works into striking three-dimensional objects. Her expressive brushstrokes extend beyond the confines of the canvas, spilling onto the sides of the frames and evoking the essence of Berneker’s artistic legacy. Through this unconventional use of color and materials, Prušnik brings to life the lost, forgotten, and destroyed fragments of Berneker’s oeuvre, imbuing them with renewed vitality and resonance.
